There are two Salmon runs, one in the spring and one in the fall, that run up The Big Nestucca located right in the center of town. The locals of Pacific City indicate that on any given day during crabbing season, a local crabber may need to offer excess crab to passersby on the street as they have effortlessly exceeded their limit.
Take a stroll on the beach and enjoy seeing some wildlife. Just a few of the local inhabitants include bald eagles, pelicans, herons, seals, sea lions, otters and porpoises. Pacific City is also a favorite for whale watchers. Come see the migration of the amazing gray whale in March and May.

The Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area and Bob Straub State Park are two attractions in Pacific City that visitors love to explore. They offer some of the best views you’ll find on the Oregon Coast. Pacific City is located along the Oregon Coast about 20 miles north of Lincoln City. It is roughly a 2-hour drive southwest of Portland.
Pacific City’s beach can be located at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area, which offers some amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. The route to the beach is rugged and steep, but the shoreline is worth the hike. The sandstone is in a constant state of erosion, so we advise you to stay within the safe, fence-in areas, as some surfaces can crumble underneath you. If you stay on the clearly defined routes, however, you will be completely safe. This is one of the 3 Capes (along with Cape Meares and Cape Lookout).
