Celebrate Christmas on the Oregon Coast

December is a popular time for families and couples to plan a coastal holiday. Start your search early to find a rental with the location, space, and amenities your group needs.

Why Spend Christmas on the Oregon Coast?

Christmas on the Oregon Coast brings together the traditions of the holiday with the beauty of the Pacific. You can spend your mornings exploring the beach, afternoons visiting local attractions, and evenings surrounded by family in your vacation rental.

See the Oregon Coast Light Up for Christmas

One of the best parts of a December coastal getaway is seeing the region’s holiday lights.

The best Oregon Coast Christmas lights include illuminated gardens, waterfront displays, decorated boats, community light shows, and festive attractions throughout the coast.

From Newport to Lincoln City and the northern and southern coast, you can build a holiday evening around one or more seasonal displays.

Visit the Sea of Lights in Newport

The Oregon Coast Aquarium’s Sea of Lights is a popular December attraction in Newport, transforming the aquarium and surrounding areas into a colorful holiday experience.

Staying in a Newport vacation rental makes it easy to combine the lights with a day exploring the Bayfront, Nye Beach, local restaurants, and other coastal attractions.

Explore Shore Acres Holiday Lights

For a dramatic holiday experience, head south toward Shore Acres. The gardens at Shore Acres State Park become illuminated with extensive holiday displays against the backdrop of the Pacific.

If you’re planning a southern Oregon Coast Christmas trip, staying nearby lets you enjoy the lights without making a long nighttime drive back to the northern coast.

Enjoy Holiday Lights in Lincoln City

Lincoln City offers its own coastal take on the holiday season. Decorated waterfront areas, local businesses, and seasonal displays give the city a festive atmosphere while the beach remains close by.

A Lincoln City vacation rental puts you close to the beach, restaurants, shopping, and holiday activities.

Make Christmas Dinner Part of the Experience

One of the advantages of a vacation rental is having the space to create your own Christmas traditions.

Prepare a favorite family recipe, bake holiday treats, gather around the dining table, and enjoy a relaxed meal together. A full kitchen also gives you the flexibility to keep your normal Christmas traditions while changing the setting.

For travelers who prefer to dine out, coastal communities offer restaurants serving seafood, local specialties, and seasonal dishes throughout the holiday season.

Spend Christmas Morning by the Pacific

Imagine waking up on Christmas morning, making coffee, opening presents, and looking out at the Pacific.

After breakfast, head down to the beach for a winter walk. The Oregon Coast is quieter during the holiday season, giving you plenty of opportunities to enjoy the shoreline and take in the scenery.

Then return to your rental, warm up, and settle in for the rest of your Christmas Day.
