Wonderful Privacy

by Anonymous
The setting of the Cedar House is quite remarkable. It sits at the end of a private road/drive in a stand of large trees, and overlooks the beach. There is nothing fancy about the house (some might call it dated or old fashioned), but it provides a comfortable and very relaxing experience. The wood stove was easy to use and was very effective at warming the house on a damp chilly day ( the regular heating units also worked well if you don’t want to bother with starting a fire). There is a steep bit at the end of the path to the beach, but the ropes worked just fine (you might want to bring some gloves for this) and the effort is well worth it. The short (about four feet) climb down would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues, The beach, which you can see and hear from the house, was really enjoyable and not busy at all (during the week, we were often the only people there). We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely return for another visit.

Classic Oregon Coast House

by Anonymous
This rustic cabin is such a classic coast experience - nothing fancy or updated, but you'll find everything you need. The beds are even pretty comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked, but just know there is no dishwasher. The view is superb and it's just a short walk down to the beach. This is on a steep hill, so not appropriate for the elderly or anyone with mobility issues. We enjoyed the wood stove-just know that you'll need to bring your own wood (not enough provided). The back upstairs bedroom is a bit musty, but otherwise everything was comfortable. I agree with others that there's only one sofa in the living room so difficult for everyone to gather together without sitting in hard chairs. Check-in was super easy and the staff super helpful! We would stay here again.

Quirky house with a beautiful view

by Anonymous
House is wonderfully located, with a very short walk down to the beach. The house itself is a little strange in its layout but cosy and comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace and the view. Beds were comfortable and being able to hear the Pacific from the bedroom was an added plus.

Bitter/sweet

by Anonymous
Reservation process (1 out of 5): I wanted to stay 2 nights and I was told that was okay.. when I called the next day to officially book the two days I had to call 4 times (4 different people).. I was told "no. I'm sorry. We can't do that." "Whomever told you that was wrong." "We can do that but it's a whole process.. sorry. No." Two of them had a attitude. I called the fourth time and someone finally said yes ..and they told me they were sorry about the whole thing and that it was wrong. Was the property clean? (3 out of 5) BBQ was dirty, some of the rooms smelled musty, one mattress had stains, lamp shades were dirty, the stairs was also dirty and so was the counter tops. there were items left outside that looked like trash and there were random mats outside on the porch. The house was fine other then that. Location was nice and secluded ..its on a hill so you gotta kinda hike to the beach and back up to the house which I didn't mind. Overall I give this place a 3. My family had fun and that's all that matters to me.. this place is nice but needs improvement . As for the oregon beach vacation business that made me the reservation I'm pretty patient and nice but wow.. I work at customer service and I understand that can be draining but show some effort and kindness.. shout out to Julie that helped me.

Price gouging for an amazing location and mediocre upkeep rental

by Anonymous
For $5500 dollars for 9 days stay, I would hope that the floor would have been swept, the kickboards in the kitchen would be in place, the cobwebs in the upstairs bedrooms would be cleaned out, and the plants on the deck would not be bone dry. The upstairs rooms have no privacy and the open air design doesn't make any sense. That being said, the location is amazing and this is the third time in four years we have stayed here. Hopefully the property manager will take a little more care in the rental upkeep, especially since the cost of the stay doubled in the past two years!

Cedar House get away

by Anonymous
The pictures online make the house look nicer than the reality. It’s a funky but lovable beach house. The location is private and wonderful. Each day we liked the house a little more. Once we got the place aired out, the WiFi working, and filled the empty propane tank we were set.

Wonderful!!

by Terri L.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at this cabin. One of the best Airbnb’s we have ever stayed out. While not a fancy, luxurious type of place... This was more of a Cozy Homey cabin feel. It was just perfect for us. Best of all was a short walk down to the beach which felt very private. The road/trail is at a somewhat decline, and you get down to the actual beach there’s a steep 2 foot drop where you use a rope to lower yourself down to the beach. But totally doable for everyone in our group from age 4 through 60. If you had handicap issues it would not work well for you. Check in and out was extremely easy. And the views from the window and the deck are worth every penny. Extremely private and quiet at the end of the world. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The Cedar House, vacation home rental

by Anonymous
The Cedar House has a cabin type feel with a beautiful ocean view from the front window and deck. The location is quiet and has a feel of being in the deep woods. The appliances & furniture could use some upgrades and the common space is small. The home was equipped well enough for our stay and clean.. The nearby beach is beautiful although the access is very steep and not an easy trek. The drive needs to have the brush trimmed back. Although the town of Otter Rock didn’t have much to offer, the house is only 5 miles from Newport. We enjoyed our stay and would rent this place and use this agency in the future.

Beautiful!

by Rebecca R.
Our group had a wonderful time at the Cedar House. The location is private, gorgeous, and a very short walk to the beach. The house was clean though we would have liked the upstairs heaters to work as it was chilly at night. That was the only issue we had, everything else was lovely and helped us all had a fun and relaxing week in Otter Rock. We would love to return someday!

Great rental for the location!

by Christina S.
We really enjoyed our stay in Otter Rock! Cabin is very close to beach access, but the path down to the beach was tricky. Not accessible to folks who have issues with really steep step downs. Cabin was overall good. The views and location made up for the quirks in the cabin. I will say that there is really only 1 useable shower in the cabin as the upstairs shower has no water pressure when it is turned to warm. Cold water did have water pressure but not for hot. There were only 4 of us so we happily shared the downstairs shower, but it might've gotten tricky if there were more people. The king size bed is not worth sleeping on, very very uncomfortable, but the rest of the beds were great. Note that firewood is not included so if you are going outside of the warmer season make sure you pick some up! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would rent it again.

Sweet retreat

by Tanya H.
What an awesome coastal location. Perfect spot to retreat....the house sits atop a steep-ish paved driveway with an epic ocean view. Short, well worn pathway to the beach can be found at the end of the driveway. Those with mobility issues may be challenged by the steepness of the driveway when walking. Bring your wood to keep the wood stove humming. Otherwise heat is reliant on cadet style wall heaters, which take the edge off the cold, but don't quite keep the home a comfortable warm. Kitchen had all the cooking tools one would need. Hot water was consistent, except when drawing a bath. Could only fill the tub 15% before hot water faded. Was fine for showering. Everything felt very clean and extra linens were available.

Coasta private getaway

by Ali K.
cute cabin like feel a bit dated but perfect for our getaway. We enjoyed a short walk to the beach, enjoyed listening to the waves from the deck and the rain on the roof at night. We woke up to beautiful pacific views every morining. We really enjoyed out time here.

Great little get away

by Wendy D.
This was a cute little house to stay in. Great location but it was not very clean, filthy windows and pretty run down. We still had a great time. The little hike down to the beach was perfect.

Super view and so cozy

by Sophie T.
Great place overall! The walk down to the beach was quick with the benefit of living with an elevated view. Despite accommodating more people as far as bedrooms. the common living space isn't ideal for more than 4 adults. We would absolutely return!

Nice location

by Anonymous
Excellent location. Saw whales while from the deck of the house. While the house was “dated”—almost like stepping back into the 1970’s —it was clean, the yard and outside area was great. Steep walk down the road to the beach. But have had much worse on previous rentals. Overall this was a great location that I would stay at again.

Gorgeous location /views

by Jerrie R.
You are definitely paying for the location and views. It’s spectacular. The sounds of the wind in the trees, the ocean and a great walking path to the beach. Very private and quiet. Gorgeous sunsets and the moon at night is really magical. The cabin is rustic but adequate.

Beautiful view and private setting

The house is listed to accommodate 8 people. It would be great if the deck had 8 chairs, it only had three. Everything else was right.
