(Weisner) The Black Pearl

Overall satisfaction: Property condition: Location: Cleanliness: Services from rental manager:

"Hello, we stayed at the (The Black Pearl) two nights October 24th-25th. The house is very charming and well kept. We loved our stay, thank you again.Suggestions:1) I don’t have or use Roku TV, not user friendly and written instructions would be helpful. Could not watch cable news, NFL, World Series etc. without the PIN Code or CC?2) A note on thermostat in kitchen w/ explanation of fireplace heat on/ off control.3) We have rented several homes and cabins on VRBO, they is usually a detailed instruction book in the property not just an email. This would be very helpful if you had map/ instructions for beach access, restaurants, TV instructions, Hot Tub, emergency numbers etc. WRW"

Nice house

Overall satisfaction: Property condition: Location: Cleanliness: Services from rental manager:

"The house was nice and in good shape, and it was great to have a hot tub! It was cloudy most of the time so we didn't get to enjoy the ocean view as much as we would have liked, but that's not unexpected on the Oregon coast! There was no laundry detergent, but the rental company brought some over when we contacted them. The fire place is connected to the thermostat, so be aware of that. There is a Keurig machine and no regular coffee maker, so be sure to bring pods or your own coffee maker if you want coffee. Beach access includes: about 5-10 minute walk to big staircase that goes down to the beach, about 15-20 minute walk south to access without steps and 15-20 minute walk north to access without steps."

Review

Overall satisfaction: Property condition: Location: Cleanliness: Services from rental manager:

"Upon arrival, we did not notice that the exposed glass plate on the fireplace was extremely hot and our two-year-old daughter ran into it before we understood the hazard, suffering severe, second-degree burns. The remainder of our stay was devoted to her medical treatment. We notified the rental agency's 24-7 office, and shared our experience and concerns about the lack of: 1) a protective screen, so that a hot, glass plate was not exposed; 2) any signage indicating a burn hazard (as it is not immediately, visually apparent that the faux gas fireplace is hot). They said they would pass this information on to "Customer Relations," and took our name and number. We never heard back.I hope the rental agency will consider some basic precautions. Basic communication could have prevented this: "Warning: Glass cover to faux gas fireplace is hot and exposed.""
