The Parker House is a beautiful historic home set on a hill above Newport's Historic Bayfront with a sweeping view of the Yaquina Bay. Located in the center of Newport, it is within a short walking distance to the ocean, beaches, downtown, and the Bayfront areas with restaurants, cafes, and shopping. Even with its great central location the house is very private and quiet. It is a perfect place for families, couples, and friends to gather at the Oregon coast.
Built in 1892, the home sits under giant California Cypress trees on a large lawn. The classic ambience of the Parker House provides a perfect location to sit back, relax, and enjoy while you are visiting the beautiful Oregon coast. In the summer months the back porch is a wonderful place to sit in the sun and enjoy the view. Fall and winter weather provide a good excuse to cozy up in front of the gas fireplace in the great room and watch the storms roll across the Bay.
The Parker House is intimate enough for two but spacious enough for up to six. It is a large family home on two levels. The southeast facing orientation of the house and large windows throughout the main floor provide copious amounts of natural light; the high ceilings make the rooms feel open and airy.
On the main floor, guests enjoy a large vaulted great room with huge windows to the Bay, a dining room with French doors to the back lawn (and a view of the Bay), a roomy full kitchen with all the implements you'll need to make your perfect meal, and a master bedroom with attached recently renovated bath. The main floor is on ground level, one step up from the entryway. Two bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower are upstairs for guest use.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, a large wall mounted television, and a large southeast facing window through which you can enjoy the morning sun. The adjoining bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a luxurious bathtub with jets. As you're taking a bath, enjoy your own private view of the Bay, and listen to the sea lions down on the Bayfront while you feel the cool ocean breeze wafting in from the open window. Upstairs are the second bedroom with a queen and single bed, and the third bedroom with two single beds, and a second bathroom with a shower.
The house also has a self-contained separate apartment which is rented permanently to a very respectful and quiet tenant, whose entrance is on the ground level in the back yard. The tenant has no access to the main part of the house. You have exclusive use of the main and upper level of the Parker House.
This home is a beautiful, very special place. No parties or loud music please. Thank you for keeping that in mind when you book the Parker House.

Recent Reviews About This Property

Outstanding view of the bay and waterfront

"The Parker House is 117 years old, but does not show its age. Outstanding view of the bay and water front. Lovely great room, nice dining room and good kitchen. Has every utensil needed, and all the pots and pans one could ever need. Good quiet accommodations, bed position is awkward, pushed up against the wall, so we just pulled it out from the wall each night so both parties could get in the bed with out disturbing the other half."

Lovely view from the living room!

"Great house but a steep walk back from town. May be a problem for some. Lovely view from the living room but an even better one from the upstairs bathroom!"

"BEAUTIFUL home, BEAUTIFUL view, BEAUTIFUL vacation (although too short). If we could have we would have spent another week there. SO COMFORTABLE & RELAXING! We'll definitely be back."
